Jeannette Franklin

Jeannette Franklin is a middle school math educator with close to two decades of experience. A product of the New York City public school system, she recognized the need for more teachers of color, and decided to return to New York City to begin her teaching career. Franklin currently serves as a teacher leader where she supports the pedagogical practices of educators through such supports as classroom visits, facilitation of professional learning, and 1:1 mentoring. During her tenure as a math teacher, she has worked primarily with grade 6. Her involvement with the New York City Department of Education Algebra For All initiative, and the Mathematics Quality of Instruction Coaching Institute, has helped her to become a more reflective practitioner, thus improving outcomes for the children she serves. Franklin earned a B.A. in Afro-American Studies and a master’s in elementary education from Howard University, a master’s in literacy education from New York University, and a master’s in educational leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.
